Nepal Packing List.

Life Unmapped Break Free! Become Nomadic

This is the Nepal packing list I used for a three-month stay in the country, including trekking for three weeks, with an extra week in Thailand tacked on either end. It was developed and fine-tuned during two previous shorter 4-6 week trekking holidays in Nepal. A fairly comprehensive first-aid kit is included (see below) along with a good book on Travel health called Travelling Well by Dr. Deb Mills, who was a pioneer of Travel Health. All of this came in very handy. As a matter of interest I met Deb once in Maroochydore. She is amazing. Nepal is a dangerous place – land of environmental extremes. I saw a girl get knocked off a walking track and down a cliff by an obstinate mule. Another guy got hit by a falling rock. I snapped something inside my knee when I slipped on a mossy log. These things happen. A well tested Nepal packing list is more important than for many countries due to the remoteness and the dangers presented on a daily basis.  It’s a must to realise that when you’re walking in the mountains you can be weeks from the nearest medical facility, and those facilities might not be up to scratch. So plan carefully. It’s worth researching the many items you can buy in Nepal or Thailand much cheaper than you can at home.

  • The Guidebooks I have linked to above are ridgi-didge. Apart from spending almost 6 months in Nepal, I’ve read just about everything there is to read about it. It is my favourite country after all. I have bought these guides myself and they are the best.
